Couple With A Quill

My husband and I jointly read, write and review books and blog our experiences as we go. We live on a small farm in rural Arkansas with our autistic daughter. My husband has Multiple Sclerosis and I have lupus, so we have our hands full but we love it.

Lara's Journal (Hidden Motives #2)Lara's Journal by A. Gavazzoni
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lara's JournalA. Gavazzoni

Sweeping suspense with dual storylines and steamy erotic scenes make for a hard-to-put-down read.

Simone is a psychiatrist who is recovering from being kidnapped by a serial killer. She is haunted by her memories, a stalker, a murderous villain, and more! While fighting to get her life back on track she agrees to help a patient to understand who his deceased lover really was, by reviewing the deceased woman's journal. The journal exhumes the abuse and degradation that the formed the younger years of the woman, Lara.

The characters are vivid and make the reader feel like a friend, chatting by the pool. This page-turner is not for immature readers! However, if you like a little heat and surprise in your reading, check this one out!

Kathy Reichs outdoes herself in MORTAL REMAINS, a Temperance Brennan novel. Temperance finds herself traveling across North America to follow leads that don't make sense at first. The plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat in this incredibly suspenseful book that is next to impossible to put down. This book provides surprises with every page you turn. Temperance is one of those characters you feel like you could have coffee with while she tells you the story. The reader gets to feel like they are right there in the midst of the action and intrigue. Don't miss out on this remarkable work of literature.

Although European history is the focus of this book, it gives a great summary of how the changes in Europe's timeline affected the world at large. Throughout history, travel, trade and war have spread ideas and knowledge from one land to another. This book does a wonderful job of not only giving details of the people, but the religious advances, political renderings, lives of the classes, laws and lifestyles. It provides a valuable resource for those researching the whys and hows of the early Europeans, as well as the truths of where our customs and structures have been shaped by these people and their triumphs and faults. It is not just a superb resource but also an entertaining book that will make you think and see your world in a new way. I believe everyone can benefit from the knowledge within its pages, and will enjoy the time spent reading it.
